The Valledolmo Invitational Golf Classic “restart” conducted it’s second championship on July 31 at Shorewood Country Club.

Italian and Sicilian food delicacies were the order of the day.

A box lunch included salami, soppressata and provolone sandwich served with Italian meat and cheese charcuterie, pickled eggplant and George Civiletto’s special cucidati.

Dinner started with appetizers of tripe provided by Scott Parker and eggplant caponata prepared by Jeff LaBarbera. The main course consisted of antipasto, Italian pasta salad and sausage with peppers and onions all done expertly by the Shorewood kitchen staff. Dessert featured fresh-baked Italian cookies by Lisa Brisley.

Dan Scaglione was the overall champion winning the Paul LoPresto Memorial trophy. Angelo Cusimano captured the senior title and was awarded the Anthony “Battles” Battaglia Memorial trophy.

This year, organizers honored longtime participant Ron “Moony” Rys, who passed away this year, with a trophy for the low Polish-American score. Joe Woloszyn won the coveted award.

The Vito Corleone Flight was won by Bill Anderson with Tom Destro the runner-up.

The Sonny Corleone Flight was won by Bodge Calanni with Jeff Rich the runner-up.

The Michael Corleone Flight was won by Bill Shaw with Ed Pagano the runnerup.

The Peter Clemenza Flight was won by Joe Coughlin with Tom Whitney the runnerup.

Skins, all birdies, were awarded to Vince Manzella, Kevin Kaszuba, Scaglione and Rich. Closest-to-the-pin winners were Tom Whitney, Bill Anderson, David “Duper” Winchell and Vince DeCosta.

All proceeds will go to the Junior Golf Program at Shorewood Country Club. The program is open to young golfers regardless of membership status.
