FREDONIA — Kaylyn Carnes’ second-half goal was the difference and Southwestern held off Fredonia 1-0 in a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West soccer game Monday evening at SUNY Fredonia.
Sophia Segrue assisted on what turned out to be the game winner.
Braya Beaver made five saves for the Lady Trojans (4-2, 4-2).
The Hillbillies fall to 2-4 and 2-4.
PV/GOWANDA POSTS SHUTOUT
FRANKLINVILLE — Behind a goal and an assist by Lauren Hostetter and Ashley Irwin, Pine Valley/Gowanda shut out Franklinville 4-0.
Samantha Collins and Sarah Kruszka both added a goal, and Katie King and Alexa Harvey each dished out an assist.
Destiny Lindquist was between the pipes for the winners (1-5, 1-5).
Franklinville drops to 0-7 and 0-5.
PORTVILLE ROLLS
PORTVILLE — Behind four first-half goals, Portville built a comfortable lead on its way to a 6-0 victory over Salamanca.
Keianna John made 22 saves for the Warriors (4-3, 3-2).
The Panthers improve to 1-5 and 1-4.
EAGLES TRIM T’WOLVES
CATTARAUGUS — Jayden Dout scored a first-half goal and that was enough to send Ellicottville to a 1-0 victory over Cattaraugus-Little Valley.
Courtney Marsh was in goal for the winners (5-1, 5-1).

T’BIRDS PREVAIL
NORTH COLLINS — Jada Cole’s two goal and two assists sparked Chautauqua Lake to a 4-0 victory over North Collins.
Avery Cannon and Savannah Horvath chipped in a goal apiece, while Lucy Gates and Mia Smith both added an assist for the winners (2-4, 2-4) in support of keeper Lucy Gates, who made nine saves.
North Collins falls to 2-3 and 2-3.
JAMESTOWN DOWNS DUNKIRK
Jamestown recorded its first win of the season, downing Dunkirk 8-0.
