Fredonia outlasts JHS volleyball

JAMESTOWN — Elizabeth Morris had 11 kills, two aces and four digs as Fredonia beat Jamestown 25-22, 25-18, 23-25, 16-25, 15-8 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls volleyball action at McElrath Gymnasium on Thursday.

London Wilmer had seven kills, three aces and two blocks while Maddie Saunders had six kills, five aces and 12 assists for the Hillbillies (2-6, 2-5).

Raegan Powers led the Red Raiders (1-8, 1-6) with 20 assists, 12 digs and three aces; Grayson Bloomquist had 11 digs and three aces; and Mattea Spitzer had five aces.

Jamestown won the jayvee matchup.

FALCONER WINS THRILLER

ALLEGANY — Hannah Melquist accumulated 38 assists, 20 digs, 10 kills, five aces and four blocks as Falconer beat Allegany-Limestone 22-25, 25-16, 25-15, 24-26, 15-10 in Division 1 West play.

Emily Zaranek had 27 kills and 15 digs; Mylie Zaranek had 27 digs and two aces; Nylah Sharpe had 21 digs and six assists; and Ashley Smith had 10 kills and five blocks for the Golden Falcons (7-1, 5-1).

Tullah Hasselberg had 26 assists, Serena Frederick had 11 kills and Molly McCarthy had six kills for the Gators (4-4, 2-4).

PORTVILLE COASTS

PORTVILLE — Thirty-nine aces and 30 kills accounted for 69 of Portville’s 75 points in a 25-4, 25-9, 25-3 Division 1 West sweep of Dunkirk.

Lillian Bentley had 14 kills and 10 aces; Mia Rhinehart had 14 aces; and Adelyn Walker had 22 assists for the Panthers (6-1, 6-0).

The Marauders fell to 0-8 overall and 0-6 in the league.

EAGLES SWEEP PINE VALLEY

SOUTH DAYTON — Natalee Leiper had nine kills, five aces and five digs as Ellicottville swept Pine Valley 25-18, 26-24, 25-19 in East Division action.

Cora Norton had six kills, two aces and seven digs while Ande Northrup had 20 assists, two kills, two aces and 11 digs for the Eagles (6-2, 4-1).

The Panthers fell to 3-5 overall and 1-5 in the league.

ADAMS POWERS CARDINALS

SALAMANCA — Eve Adams had 15 kills, four digs and two aces as Randolph swept Salamanca 25-17, 25-9, 25-19 in East Division action.

Allie Conley had six kills and five digs; Aliza Hind had 23 assists, four digs and two aces; and Donnilynn Sheldon had three kills for the Cardinals (6-0, 6-0).

Lezly McComber led the Warriors (2-5, 1-5) with five kills, five blocks, five digs and an assist; Marlee Maybee had seven assists and a kill; and Karina Mireles-Crouse had five digs, three kills and an assist.

SOUTHWESTERN CRUISES

OLEAN — Lauren Cotter had eight kills, nine digs, three blocks, three aces and two assists as Southwestern swept Olean 25-7, 25-12, 25-20 in Division 1 West action.

Bella Sirianni had 13 assists and four digs; Siri DuBois had four kills; and Jaidyn Newhouse had three kills and three aces for the Trojans (6-1, 5-1).

The Huskies fell to 3-4 overall and 3-3 in the league.
