Panthers post big win over T’wolves 63-0

SOUTH DAYTON — The Gowanda/Pine Valley football team began its season with a huge nonleague victory last week against Silver Creek/Forestville. The Panthers had so much that they decided to go for an even bigger win to begin Class D football action with a 63-0 victory over Cattaraugus-Little Valley on Thursday at Pine Valley Central School.

Just like last week, Gowanda/Pine Valley (2-0, 1-0) sophomore quarterback Carter Capozzi kept finding targets in the endzone, including three of them in the first quarter to Quentin Centner to build up a 22-0 lead. Capozzi added three more scores through the air to finish at six with Winter Mentley-Peters, Jon Sheldon and Cameron Slade all catching a score.

Everything was working for the Panthers in the victory as three different rushers hit paydirt to build the monumental lead with Slade having a second score, and both Kaleb Smith and Nolan Maude scoring on the rush.

On top of keeping the Timberwolves (0-2, 0-1) off the scoreboard, Gowanda/Pine Valley’s defense had no problem taking the ball away with both Connor Elliot and Sheldon reeling in an interception.

Starting at $3.50/week.
