Senior nets hat trick as Fredonia beats Maple Grove

Ava Rukavina netted a hat trick in the first half as Fredonia beat Maple Grove 4-1 in nonleague girls soccer action Saturday at SUNY Fredonia.

Rukavina scored unassisted in the 10th minute, from Allie Pchelka in the 20th minute and from Mady Polhamus in the 30th minute for the Hillbillies (2-3-0, 1-2-0 CCAA D1 West). Polhamus made it 3-0 with a goal from Ella Koopman in the 25th minute.

Kylie Kress scored the lone goal for the Red Dragons (3-2-0, 3-0-0 CCAA D2 West) in the 77th minute.

Naomi Muck made four saves for Fredonia and Megan McGee made nine saves for Maple Grove.

BEARS TRIM SOUTHWESTERN

Frewsburg scored twice in the final 14 minutes to beat Southwestern 2-0 in nonleague action at Charles A. Lawson Field.

Taytum Jimerson scored from Addison Hultberg in the 66th minute before Hultberg added a penalty kick in the 76th minute.

Braelyn Stelmack made six saves to earn the clean sheet for the Bears (5-1-0, 3-0-0 CCAA D2 West).

The Trojans, who are 2-1-0 in Division 1 West play, fell to 3-2-1 overall.

ROTH NETS WINNER

FALCONER — Julianna Roth’s goal second-half goal held up as the winner as Falconer/Cassadaga Valley edged Chautauqua Lake 3-2 in nonleague play.

Natalie Dossey and Brynn Helms scored in the first half for the Golden Cougars (5-1-1, 2-1-1 CCAA D1 West) with Bailey Olson recording an assist.

Quinn Putney scored from Jenica Jones in the first half and Savannah Horvath scored from Avery Cannon in the second half for the Thunderbirds (1-4-0, 1-1-0 CCAA D2 West).

Ellyson Baglia made four saves for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley while Lucy Gates made nine saves for Chautauqua Lake.
