Westfield posts volleyball win over Maple Grove
BEMUS POINT — Westfield improved to 4-2 overall and 3-2 in the division after downing Maple Grove 23-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-13, 15-13.
Keara Kincaid led the way for the Wolverines with 13 kills, 11 digs and 12 aces; Tanleigh Bestine added 22 assists and six blocks; Sydney Hotchkiss collected three kills and six digs; and Eva Gnadzinski chipped in five kills and seven digs.
For Maple Grove (1-5, 1-4), Hannah Benson had nine kills, 14 digs and two aces; Hayley Johnson recorded eight kills and seven blocks; Bayley Godfrey had 19 assists and four aces; and Lily Benedetto chipped in two kills, three aces and 11 digs.
T’BIRDS ROLL
MAYVILLE — Chautauqua Lake had little trouble as it downed Cassadaga Valley 25-11, 25-15, 25-6.
Jeanine Group paced the Thunderbirds (4-1) with six kills and two aces; Ava Olson had five kills, five aces, four digs and three assists; Mckenna Smith collected two kills, one ace, five digs and seven assists; Alice Scarpine had six aces and five digs; Noli Paddock had four kills, three assists and one block; and Brynn Engdahl added four kills, two aces and four digs.
PANAMA IMPROVES TO 7-0
PANAMA — Panama won its seventh match without a loss, downing Clymer/Sherman 25-22, 25-13, 25-17.
Headliners for the Panthers were Sarah Harvey with eight kills and five digs; Kylie Morgan with six kills, one dig and one ace; Kiera Loberg with four kills, 19 assists, one block, five digs and one ace; Kaitlyn Horton with six kills, four blocks and one dig; Emma Cooper with five kills and eight digs; Corinne Hovey with five digs and two aces; and Kylie Range with five digs, one kill and three aces.
For Clymer/Sherman, Janelle Burchanowski led the way with four kills, seven assists and one dig; Lilly Martin had two digs and eight assists; and Alexis Neckers chipped in nine kills, two digs and one ace.
HORNETS WIN IN FIVE
BROCTON — Forestville held off Brocton in five sets, 25-22, 12-25, 21-25, 25-13, 15-13.
Leading the way for the Hornets were Kaitie Lomanto with seven aces and 10 assists; Carilene Sliwa with five aces, three kills, two blocks and four digs; Megan Gruber with two aces, five kills and three digs; and Kaylynn Franklin with one ace, one kill and one dig.
For Brocton (2-3, 2-4), Evie Morrison had five assists, three kills, two blocks and six aces; Andrea Spiller had seven kills, two assists and six aces; and Zoe Spiller contributed four kills, four digs and five aces.
