Silver Creek/Forestville and Fredonia didn’t qualify for the Section VI postseason.

That doesn’t mean the Black Knights and Hillbillies weren’t playing meaningful football Thursday night.

Jameson Quinn scored on an 11-yard touchdown run and Aidan Czekanski kicked the game-winning extra point as No. 2 Fredonia beat No. 3 Silver Creek/Forestville 21-20 in the Class C Chuck Funke Bowl semifinals at the Orange Bowl.

John Steinwachs opened the scoring with a touchdown run for the Black Knights, but Quinn’s 17-yard touchdown run gave the Hillbillies a 7-6 lead later in the first quarter.

Davion White later gave Fredonia a 14-6 lead, but the Hillbillies let Silver Creek/Forestville hang around.
