Southwestern rolls Black Knights 35-8

WEST ELLICOTT -- Southwestern led 21-0 after the first half en route to a 35-8 Class C South victory over Silver Creek/Forestville.
Jameson Walsh ran for a 13-yard touchdown, Owen Hayes threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Brody Larson and Brayden Potter returned a fumble 55 yards for a score during the opening two quarters for the Trojans (5-1, 4-0).
Cam Ingram broke up the shutout when he ran 10 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter for the Black Knights (0-6, 0-4).
Will Pavlock recovered a fumble in the end zone and Jacky Ni fell on a blocked punt by Larson in the end zone for Southwestern's final two scores.
Matt Butterfield ran six times for 49 yards; Hayes completed six passes for 103 yards; and Larson caught three passes for 76 yards for the Trojans.
Defensively, Potter was in on 10 tackles, including three for a loss; Tavio Hoose was in on 10 tackles, including five for a loss, and forced two fumbles; Peter Conley was in on eight tackles, including three for a loss; and Larson was in on six tackles.
The Trojans visit Salamanca next week before hosting Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove in Week 8.
"The kids have really stepped up. The seniors have taken on that leadership role," Southwestern head coach Jake Burkholder said. "We've had great practices, watched film and done all the right stuff. They have taken ownership of having a successful season."
