Kruszka named to league first team
Ellicottville’s Butler named CCAA East Division Most Valuable Player

The Ellicottville girls soccer team lost just one game in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division action on the way to a league title this season. Standing out among her teammates was Brooke Butler, who scored 26 goals and added five assists and was named Most Valuable Player in the league.
Butler was joined by three other teammates on the first team in Audrey Hurlburt, Cameron Kaleta and Addison John. Hurlburt was a big part of the offense, scoring 16 goals and adding nine assists; John scored once and added eight assists; and defender Kaleta added one assist while headlining an Ellicottville defense that gave up just ive league goals.
Portville finished second in league — its only losses were to Ellicottville — and landed three players on the first team in Grace Gariepy, Meghan Lyle and Natalie Reynolds.
Randolph also added three first-team all-stars in Quinn Pence, Gianna Bowles and Sara Smith. Bowles paced the Cardinals’ offense with 18 goals and six assists, Pence scored eight goals and six assists, and Smith had three goals and eight assists.
A pair of Salamanca players were selected on the first team in defender Summer Downey and Madisyn Lafferty who scored two goals and two assists.
The lone first-team selection from Pine Valley/Gowanda was Sarah Kruszka who led the Panthers with nine goals and three assists.
Ellicottville added three second-team all-stars in Courtney Marsh, Drew Ficek and Keelin Finn. From Portville are Ashley Carls, Mackenzie Harmon and Olivia Dean; Randolph added Zoey Dickerson, Stella Smith and Sadie Steward; Salamanca representatives were Bella Wolfe and Keianna John; Arryanna Bardo was picked from Pine Valley/Gowanda; and the last two spots went to Cattaraugus-Little Valley’s Evelyn Janora and Franklinville’s Olivia Frank.
The overall team sportsmanship award went to Portville while the Panthers individual winner was Natalie Reynolds. Katie Bless was selected from Ellicottville, Sierra Smith from Randolph, Kyleigh Slater from Salamanca, Katie King from Pine Valley/Gowanda, Morgan Rosario from Cattaraugus-Little Valley and Lainey Dunlap from Franklinville.
