Southwestern rolls Dunkirk 87-14; CL wins on Senior Night

WEST ELLICOTT — Reece Beaver scored 16 of her game-high 29 points during a 33-7 first quarter as Southwestern breezed past Dunkirk 87-14 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West girls basketball Monday evening.

Bella Sirianni and Ellie Pearson each added 17 points for the Trojans (8-6, 5-0), who led 55-11 at halftime. Charlotte Beaver had seven rebounds, five assists and three steals; Reece Beaver had six steals and five assists; Lauren Cotter had seven rebounds and four assists; Braya Beaver had six steals and three assists; Sirianni had seven assists and five steals; and Maddie McIntyre had eight rebounds and three steals for Southwestern.

Ashley Collazo led the Marauders (5-9, 1-4) with 6 points.

TROCKI HITS 9 3’S FOR BEARS

FALCONER — Teghan Trocki hit a Frewsburg school-record nine 3-pointers in a 29-point performance as the Bears rolled Falconer 74-25 in Division 1 East action.

Trocki also dished five assists and had six steals for Frewsburg (14-2, 6-0), while Jadyn Trocki matched her sister with five assists and six steals while scoring 21 points, and Taytum Jimerson had five assists, too.

Falconer (4-11, 1-5) was led by Augustine Krenzer with 11 points and two assists, Ellyson Baglia had eight rebounds and two assists and Ashley Smith collected seven boards.

GOWANDA — Cassadaga Valley knocked down 13 3-pointers in an 81-42 Division 1 East victory over Gowanda.

Senior Andrea Johnson scored a career-high 27 points that included four 3-pointers, while junior Emiley Anderson had 22 points, which included five 3-pointers. Freshman Breonna Hopkins also had 11 points with three 3-pointers for the Cougars (9-5, 3-2), who led 40-18 at halftime.

CeCe John led the Panthers (2-12, 0-5) with 11 points.

RANDOLPH — Skylar Herington’s double-double of 30 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and three steals powered Randolph past Portville 56-31 in Division 1 East play.

Sadie Steward added 11 points, two blocks and three steals for the Cardinals (9-6, 4-1), Quinn Pence had five assists and seven steals, Gianna Bowles collected six steals and Ryanne Bushey had nine rebounds.

Portville (9-4, 2-3) was led by Lillian Bentley with 22 points.

EAGLES WIN ON SENIOR NIGHT

MAYVILLE — Just as Silver Creek took a 35-34 lead on a late triple, Kaylee Tarr had a huge steal and drove to the basket where she was fouled and sent to the charity stripe. Tarr hit both of her shots as the Eagles regained the lead 36-35, and another two Eagles’ free throws ended Senior Night the right way with a 38-35 Division 2 West win.

“It was a really nice win for the girls,” Chautauqua Lake head coach Michael Putney stated. “There was really nice leadership from our seniors and youngsters stepped up and produced.”

Anna Gollhardt led the Eagles (3-11, 2-5) with 10 points, Taylor Donato had four assists and four rebounds, Elise Riedesel collected seven boards and four steals and Tarr had five steals.

“Our seniors Quinn Putney, Taylor Donato, Elise Riedesel and Arwin Lyle did a great job,” Putney added.

Silver Creek’s (4-10, 0-8) effort was led by Khloe Karnes with 10 points.

RED DRAGONS ROLL PANAMA

BEMUS POINT — Rebekka Roberts had a double-double, scoring 14 points, grabbing 13 rebounds and snagging eight steals as Maple Grove downed Panama 57-35 in Division 2 West.

Hayley Johnson added 15 points for the Red Dragons (9-4, 4-4), Alex Halstrom scored 10, and Bryanna Cornell and Claire Price both had seven rebounds.

Panama (2-12, 2-5) was led by Kiera Loberg with 15 points and Kaitlyn Horton added 12.

ELLICOTTVILLE LIMITS PINE VALLEY

ELLICOTTVILLE — The Eagles held visiting Pine Valley to single-digit scoring in three quarters en route to a 50-27 Division 2 East victory.

Pine Valley was led by Vivien Libby with 12 points.

FREDONIA FALLS TO GATORS

ALLEGANY — The Gators broke away from visiting Fredonia in the second half for a 54-47 Division 1 West win.

Amelia Herzog led Allegany-Limestone (9-5, 4-2) with 21 points and three assists, Serena Frederick scored 13 and had a steal, and Madison Kahm added 12 points with three steals and four rebounds.

Fredonia falls to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in league play.

CANFIELD HITS BIG SHOT

TONAWANDA — Alyson Canfield beat the shot clock with a deep 3-pointer to give Jamestown a one-point lead and the Red & Green beat nonleague Mount St. Mary Academy 50-45.

Anna Engquist grabbed a defensive rebound and made two key free throws to help Jamestown put the game away.

Canfield finished with a game-high 17 points to go along with seven steals, five rebounds and three assists. Seventh-grader Payton Gibbs had 7 points, four rebounds and two steals; freshman Makena Pryce had 6 points on a pair of 3-pointers; and sophomore Abbee Brandow had 7 points and a pair of steals. Seventh-grader Carley Daniels had seven rebounds and five assists for Jamestown (5-9).
