Hind leads Cards past Black Knights in D1 East 67-41

SILVER CREEK — Drew Hind poured in 28 points, dished out seven assists and grabbed five rebounds as Randolph defeated Silver Creek 67-41 to stay perfect in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association East Division 1 action on Monday.

Roan Kelly added 16 points for the Cardinals (12-0, 6-0), Kevin McElwain scored 12, Cooper Freeman grabbed nine rebounds and had six assists, and Griffin Nelson had three assists and two steals.

Silver Creek (6-5, 1-4) was led by Ray Cortes with 12 points and eight rebounds, while Jose Pratts also collected eight boards.

GOWANDA — Quentin Centner scored 23 points as Gowanda edged Cassadaga Valley 61-60 in Division 1 East play.

Trelin Warrior added another 12 points for Gowanda (7-5, 3-3) in the victory.

Cassadaga Valley (2-11, 1-6) was powered by Ace Pierce with 26 points, Hunter Johnson scored 11 and Austin Main had 10.

HAGLUND, BEARS HANG ON

PORTVILLE — Chase Haglund made a free throw to extend Frewsburg’s lead to three points over Portville in the waning moments of Monday’s game. Haglund then contested Aidan DeFazio’s 3-point attempt to tie the game, allowing the Bears to hold on for a 46-43 Division 1 East victory.

Gavin Smith led Frewsburg (7-6, 6-1) with 21 points and eight rebounds, Blake Weaver grabbed 12 rebounds, Kael Collver collected nine boards and Haglund dealt out six assists.

Portville (4-8, 2-4) was led by DeFazio with 22 points.

Jonathan Massing reeled in 18 rebounds and had four assists for the Pirates (6-8, 4-3), while Tanner Mihalko turned in three assists.

Maple Grove (8-4, 4-3) was led by Jack Mansfield with 11 points, Marcus Laney grabbed eight boards and two steals, and Nate Cresanti had five rebounds.
