SALAMANCA — Salamanca led Dunkirk by a point after the first quarter of Tuesday’s Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 West basketball game.
By halftime, the Warriors had seized control.
Lucus Brown scored 11 of his game-high 28 points during a 24-4 second quarter to lead Salamanca to a 69-48 victory over the Marauders at the Salamanca High School gym.
Jaxson Ross added 10 points, Avery Brown chipped in 9 and Jacob Herrick had 8 for the Warriors who improved to 14-3 overall and 8-0 in the division.
For Dunkirk (5-10, 3-5), Greg Orcutt led the way with 17 points and K’Vion Tell added 10.

A 30-12 first quarter propelled Fredonia to an 82-46 Division 1 West victory over Southwestern.
The Hillbillies, who hit 15 3-pointers, led 51-31 at halftime en route to their second-highest scoring output of the season.
Davion White led Fredonia (11-6, 5-3) with 24 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four assists, while Mike Hahn and Ashton Putney each hit six 3-pointers on their way to 18 points.
The Trojans fell to 4-13 overall and 1-7 in the league.
FOLEY HAS CAREER NIGHT
ELLERY — Senior Jonah Foley scored a career-high 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Maple Grove past Sherman 66-58 in Division 2 West.
Marcus Laney added 16 points for the Red Dragons (11-5, 6-4), who led 28-19 at halftime before pulling ahead by 16 entering the final quarter.
Jacob Ferranto and Daniel Meeder led the Wildcats (6-12, 2-9) with 17 points apiece.

EAGLES UPSET WESTFIELD
MAYVILLE — Sophomore Cody Jacobson scored a career-high 31 points as Chautauqua Lake beat Westfield 60-42 in Division 2 West.
Jacobson, who scored 30 points during his varsity debut last season, had 14 points during the first half Tuesday and 17 in the second half.
“In the first half, he was hitting shots,” Chautauqua Lake head coach Devin Pope said, “but in the second half he started getting to the rim and finding open guys.”
The Wolverines were playing without standout guard Carson Swanson.
Jacobson also had five steals and four rebounds, Brendan Klossner had eight rebounds and Brayden Gibbs had six rebounds for the Eagles (6-11, 4-6).
Zach Maguire led the Wolverines (16-2, 9-1) with 19 points to go along with nine rebounds, while Aaron Fuller had 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
“Any win for a young team is a big confidence boost,” Pope said. “Any points we can get toward playoffs are huge whether we’re playing Westfield or any team.”

RANDOLPH — Randolph clinched the Division 1 East title outright with a 59-41 victory over second-place Frewsburg.
Drew Hind led the Cardinals (17-2, 11-0) with 33 points, seven rebounds, five assists, four steals and a blocked shot, while Griffin Nelson had 9 points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists.
Randolph led 18-9 after the first quarter.
Gavin Smith paced the Bears (10-8, 8-2) with 13 points and three assists to go along with seven rebounds. Blake Weaver had 10 points and seven rebounds, while Kael Collver had 9 points, 12 rebounds, five steals and four blocked shots.

ELLICOTTVILLE PULLS AWAY FROM T’WOLVES
CATTARAUGUS — Owen Chudy had 19 points, 10 rebounds, four steals and three blocked shots to lead Ellicottville past Cattaraugus-Little Valley 56-42 in Division 2 East.
Carter Smith added 12 points, six rebounds and five assists, while William Benatovich had 10 rebounds and four steals for the Eagles (12-5, 9-1), who led 24-22 at halftime before outscoring the Timberwolves 19-11 in the third quarter.
Cattaraugus-Little Valley fell to 4-13 overall and 4-6 in the league.
