Ebersole, Eagles knock off Franklinville

FRANKLINVILLE — Behind a four-hit complete game from Derek Ebersole, North Collins knocked off Franklinville 7-3 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 baseball Wednesday.

Ebersole struck out 10, walked two and was the beneficiary of a three-run sixth inning that gave him some breathing room.

Leading the way offensively for North Collins were Matt Warsaw, Zander Miller and Carson Teijeira, who had two hits apiece.

Collin Mooney had a triple for Franklinville (0-2, 0-1).

TUESDAY

FALCONER WINS FIRST GAME IN 5 YEARS

FALCONER — The last time the Falconer baseball team won a game was five years ago.

That changed on Tuesday night when Cassadaga Valley visited for a nonleague game.

Trailing 8-7 headed into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Golden Falcons relied on the bottom of the lineup with two ninth-graders to at least extend the game. Gavin Curtis finished his night for Falconer 2 for 4 to get aboard and then Chase Bianco hit the RBI single to score Logan Johnson and tie the game.

Bianco’s hit brought up the leadoff batter Isaiah Washington, who knocked the game-winning RBI past a diving second baseman to score Curtis for the 9-8 victory.

Cassadaga Valley took the lead in the top of the seventh to put the pressure on Falconer when Jackson Crowell knocked in the go-ahead run. Ace Pierce and Greg Edson each finished 2 for 5 for the Cougars.

Cassadaga Valley started the game with Hunter Johnson on the mound striking out nine, giving up five hits and allowing two runs. Crowell finished the game for the Cougars with five strikeouts and five hits in the final three innings.

Erik Stenstrom was Falconer’s starter with six strikeouts and three hits allowed over four innings.
