Gowanda softball no-hits North Collins

GOWANDA — Gowanda junior Gracie Eddy threw five no-hit innings, allowing just a fourth-inning walk to Cate Ayers as Gowanda beat nonleague North Collins 13-0.

Holland Browning went 3 for 4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored to lead the Panthers. Corrina John had two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored, while Ella Luther had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Alhanna Gabel also drove in a pair of runs in the win.

THREE COMBINE ON NO-HITTER

SINCLAIRVILLE — Junior Eva Gnadzinski, sophomore Mackenzie Schumaker and freshman Avery Smith combined on a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts as Westfield shut out Cassadaga Valley 15-0 to open Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 West play.

Tanleigh Bestine hit a pair of triples, drove in three runs and scored twice to lead the Wolverines offense. Charly Mathews had two hits, including a triple, four RBIs and two runs scored; Sydney Hotchkiss had two hits, including a double, two runs scored and an RBI; and Madyson Burgess had two hits, including a double, an RBI and two runs scored in the win.

Andrea Johnson and Catie Russell combined for three strikeouts in the circle for the Cougars.

TROJANS DOWN MG

BEMUS POINT — In the top of the first inning Siri DuBois hit a 2-run home run for the Southwestern softball team and the Trojans never looked back en route to a 7-3 nonleague win over Maple Grove on Wednesday at Bemus Point Elementary.

The Trojans (1-1) were led on offense and defense by Madi Burnett going 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBIs, then she pitched all seven innings just allowing three earned runs on two hits and six walks while striking out 11.

Arianna Silakowski went 2 for 3 with a double for the Trojans, and both Peyton Lillie and Lilly Robinson hit 2 for 4.

Harper Dawes and Bryanna Cornell collected the two hits for Maple Grove (0-1).

Lydia Darr was in the circle for the Red Dragons and struck out 10 while giving up six earned runs on 12 hits and two walks.
