Snow reaches 100 career goals for Gowanda boys lax

The Gowanda boys lacrosse team has started off the season strong with five straight wins and sit s atop the Class D standings.

The Panthers held off Eden/North Collins on Thursday for a 13-12 league win, securing the victory with a few huge saves by Faolan Quinn at the end of the game.

However, it was on Wednesday when Gowanda traveled to Wilson when the Panthers had plenty to celebrate in the 21-8 Class D victory. Senior captain Croix Snow scored his 100th career goal in the victory and freshman midfielder Dalen Stevens netted his first varsity goal while also picking up an assist.

Snow finished the game with 10 goals and three assists, while Winter Rivera scored five goals and dealt 11 assists, Jessup Stevens scored a hat trick and Nakotah Jackson scored twice and added two assists.

Defensively, Hodaweo:je’ John secured three ground balls, two interceptions and caused two turnovers, while Rivera had three ground balls, an interception and caused one turnover.

PANTHERS SHUT OUT NEWFANE

GOWANDA — The Gowanda girls lacrosse team stayed undefeated in Conference 4 action after defeating Newfane 23-0 on Wednesday.

The Panthers were led by Chloe Luther with five goals and six assists. Cadence Luther added four goals and three assists, Karice John netted four goals, Lily Scanlan picked up a goal and three assists, and Cora Luther and Felicia Scanlan both scored twice and had an assist.

Both Luthers recorded three ground balls and Hannah Valentine caused two turnovers.

Gowanda (5-1, 5-0) is back in action on Saturday at Niagara Wheatfield.
