Trippy leads Dunkirk past Salamanca

SALAMANCA — Paul Trippy III went 3 for 5 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs as Dunkirk beat Salamanca 9-3 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 baseball action Monday at Veterans Memorial Park.

Greg Orcutt went 3 for 3 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and two RBIs for the Marauders, who led 5-1 after two innings and 9-1 after five.

Zach Zentz threw the first four innings on the mound for Dunkirk (3-2, 1-0), striking out seven while allowing one hit, one walk and an unearned run. Orcutt struck out the side in the fifth before Josh Lemanski got the final six outs with three strikeouts.

Lemanski, Dylan Bankoski and Zentz each had a pair of hits in the Marauders’ 15-hit attack.

Jacob Herrick, Cole Urbanski and Jaxson Ross each singled for Salamanca (5-1, 0-1).

Urbanski, Herrick and Carmine Hoag combined to strike out seven and walk two for the Warriors.

FREDONIA SHUTS OUT FALCONER

FALCONER — Ashton Putney threw a six-inning three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and no walks, facing just two batters over the minimum, as Fredonia shut out Falconer 17-0 in six innings of Division 1 action

Putney also led the Hillbillies (1-1, 1-0) offensively by going 4 for 5 with two doubles and four runs scored to go along with two RBIs. Owen Rush had two hits, including a double, scored three runs and drove in two runs, while Andrew Cowan hit an RBI single and scored two runs. Nathan Sercu and Colin Luce each had a hit and an RBI, Matt Cowan scored two runs and Bryce Bacher doubled for Fredonia, which led 7-0 after two and put the game away with a nine-run sixth inning.

Logan Johnson had two hits and Gabe Swanson had one for the Golden Falcons (1-3, 0-1). Gavin Curtis struck out seven and walked one in five innings on the mound for Falconer.

BLACK KNIGHTS ROLL EAGLES

ELLICOTTVILLE — Dom Anders went 4 for 5 with a double and six RBIs to power Silver Creek/Forestville past Ellicottville 22-4 in Division 3 play.

Aiden Piccolo singled twice, drove in four runs and scored twice, while Hunter Parks and John Steinwachs each doubled for the Black Knights (1-1, 1-0), who led 11-4 before an 11-run top of the sixth inning.

Piccolo, Manny Sanchez and Jake Anders combined on a five-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

Emmett Jacobson-Coolidge doubled for the Eagles (1-1, 0-1), who saw four pitchers walk 18 and strike out five.
