Fredonia captures third place

WEST SENECA — Fredonia took third place in its bracket with a 36-34 victory over West Seneca in unified basketball Thursday at The R.O.C.K.-Niagara Frontier Sports.

Michael Hahn was named the Cross Training Athletics Character Athlete of the Game and Elijah Schrantz earned the Section VI Sportsmanship Award for Fredonia.

Julian Ocasio led the Hillbillies with 15 points, while Schrantz added 9. Austin Duliba and Kaleigh Morano each scored 4 points, while Luke McKnatt and Sam Tenamore added 2 apiece.

For West Seneca, Kevin Cainery scored 11 points and Jason Porter scored 9. Cody Sokol chipped in 8 points, Connor Jackson had 4 and Aiden Issacs had 2.

Salamanca also took third place in its bracket with a 45-38 victory over City Honors on Thursday morning.

Kaine Whitcomb led the Warriors with 18 points, while Gordon Sullivan and John Holmes-Pierce added 8 apiece. Logan Abrams scored 7 points, while Michael Light and Ashton Smith chipped in 2 points apiece for Salamanca.
