Gowanda lacrosse teams set to host playoff games

GOWANDA — The Gowanda girls lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season with a 24-3 Conference 4 victory over City Honors on Wednesday.

The Panthers finished the league schedule with a perfect record to capture the title and stand at 14-2 overall going into the playoffs. Gowanda is the No. 4 team and is set to host a quarterfinal game on Tuesday against Springville.

Wednesday’s win over City Honors (6-8, 6-8) was Senior Night and Layla Gamble, Alaina Kaczmarczyk and Chloe Luther were celebrated.

Luther led the offense with eight goals and six assists, Karice John added five goals and an assist and Nina Coulon made four saves in net.

The Gowanda boys lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season on Monday with a 19-9 Class D loss to Akron.

The Panthers (10-3, 8-2) came up second to the Tigers (14-0, 11-0) in the division and will be the 2-seed in the Class D playoffs while Akron claims the top spot.

Gowanda will host No. 7 Depew (4-13) on Monday in the quarterfinals at 6 p.m.
