FALCONER — Gowanda’s Calie Hudson and Maple Grove’s Sean Verbosky won steeplechase titles, while Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Abby Chudy and Allegany-Limestone’s Joshua Nolder captured pentathlon crowns at the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Pentathlon & Steeplechase Championships on Wednesday at Bill Race Field.

Hudson finished the girls 2,000-meter steeplechase in 7:46.24, more than 15 seconds faster than second-place Lilly Coulter of Allegany-Limestone. Dunkirk’s Hanan Mohamad Narvaez was third.

Verbosky finished the boys 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:34.23, more than 30 seconds faster than second-place Lucas Dunnewold of Clymer/Sherman/Panama. Randolph’s Parker Patterson was third.

Chudy claimed the girls pentathlon title with 2,376 points. She ran the 100-meter hurdles in 18.22 seconds; high jumped 4 feet, 8.25 inches; threw the shot put 27 feet, 4 inches; reached 15 feet, 3.25 inches in the long jump; and finished the 800 meters in 2:48.55. Salamanca’s Michaelynn Lecceradone was second with 2,203 points and Clymer/Sherman/Panama’s Tayden Persons was third with 2,153 points.

Nolder won the boys title with 2,959 points. He ran the 110-meter hurdles in 17.04 seconds; high jumped 5 feet, 10.5 inches; threw the shot put 39 feet, 9.25 inches; reached 19 feet, 11 inches in the long jump; and ran the 1,500 meters in 5:09.98. Southwestern’s Neves Hoose was second and Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Benjamin Edwards was third.
