Calph takes Travel League’s ‘New York Open’

BUSTI — Last week, the Wednesday Travel League held its second major of the season, the “New York Open,” at South Hills Country Club.

Robert Calph was the overall winner with the low round of 77. Calph has now won both majors this season and has two New York Open wins to his credit. With his eighth career major victory, Calph is now tied with Ed Tofil for second-most all-time.

In a three-way tie for second place with 80 were Josh Hilliker, Jeff Nelson and Ryan Thompson. Calph led the front nine with 38 and Hilliker led the back nine with an even-par 36. Tom Sacilowski and Tony Destro won the B and C flights, respectively. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Phil Hopkins.
