Frewsburg no-hits Fredonia 10-12 All-Stars in District 38 semifinal

WESTFIELD -- Bryan Heald threw a no-hitter with 17 strikeouts as Frewsburg beat Fredonia 1-0 in the District 38 Little League 10-12 Non-Sanctioned Tournament semifinals Monday.

Frewsburg, the Area B No. 2 seed, scored the lone run of the game in the top of the third inning. Asa Rounds and Jackson Brady walked to open the frame. Rounds then went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a one-out passed ball.

Fredonia's Logan Simpson nearly matched Heald pitch for pitch. The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out 13 while walking four in five innings. Dominik Csont threw the final inning and struck out three for Fredonia, the Area A No. 1 seed.

Collin Bragg had a pair of hits for Frewsburg and Hunter Nelsen added a single.

Heald allowed three base runners, two coming on dropped third strikes. He also hit a batter, throwing 84 pitches in his complete game.

FALCONER ADVANCES

LAKEWOOD -- Falconer scored a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and two more in the fifth to rally past Mayville 3-2 in the District 38 Little League 10-12 Non-Sanctioned Tournament semifinals Monday at LaGrega Field.

AJ Stewart threw a complete-game one-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Falconer, the Area B No. 1 seed.

Mayville, the Area A No. 2 seed, took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning. Kase Keefe walked and Destyn May was hit by a pitch before both eventually scored on wild pitches.

Falconer made it 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning as Ethan Dickerson walked and Lukas Youngberg singled before Dickerson eventually scored on a wild pitch.

In the bottom of the fifth, Mason Corrigan and Ian Chapman both walked with one out before Trenton Smith singled with two outs. Chapman scored on a wild pitch before Stewart hit an RBI double.

Carter Crabtree had the lone hit for Mayville. Parker Wellman struck out seven in 3 1/3 innings before Liam Mulkins struck out three over the final 1 2/3 innings.

Falconer will take on Frewsburg in the championship game at 6 p.m. Wednesday at LaGrega Field in Lakewood.

Falconer beat Frewsburg 11-8 in pool play last Monday.
