The Stuart Tool & Die A’s beat the Kosciuszko Club Phillies 1-0.
In a classic pitchers’ duel Travis Butcher tossed a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts to outdual Andrew Cerrie’s three-hit, five-strikeout performance.
The A’s scratched out the lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Brandon Shelters singled to lead off the inning and then stole second base. Shelters went to third on Butcher’s groundout. Randy Stuart lined a single to left field to plate the only run of the game.
Trevor Spicer had the other hit for the A’s, while Alberto Benejan and Bryant Watts had a single each to pace the Phillies.

The A’s used a big nine-run fourth inning to put away the defending league champs.
Cody Spicer led the A’s at the plate with three hits and Trent Gray had two hits in a 10-hit attack. Travis Butcher hurled the complete-game victory striking out seven and scattering seven hits.
Mike Wilcox took the loss and Jimmy Schwab had a pair of hits for the Brewers.
