Wednesday Travel League makes annual trip to Ohio
POLAND, Ohio — On Tuesday, Wednesday Travel League golfers participated in the seventh annual “Cousin Eddie Invitational” at Reserve Run Golf Course. The low scratch scorers were Dave Wallace in A Flight with an even-par 70 and Phil Hopkins in B Flight with 82.
The winners of the 2-Man contest after a tiebreaker were Tom Destro and Hopkins. Runners-up were Wallace and Jaime Galarza. In third place was the team of Pete Pinkoski and Bob Kujawa.
Closest to the pin were Ken Kaus (Nos. 2 and 15), Dennis Gawronski Sr. (Nos. 4 and 11), Don Kujawa (No. 8) and Robert Calph (No. 17).
Untied birdies were recorded by Bob Kujawa (No. 3), Jeff Nelson (No. 6), Gary Hazelton (No. 8), John Waterman (No. 9), Josh Hilliker (No. 12), Mike Dornan (No. 13), Dave Franklin (No. 16) and Ed Tofil (No. 17).
The top point-winning foursome was Kaus, Franklin, Gawronski and Hopkins. The top individual point winner was Bob Kujawa. The winner of the coveted “Cousin Eddie” trophy was John Waterman.

LOWELLVILLE, Ohio — The Wednesday Travel League league played its regular Wednesday event at Knoll Run Golf Course, which became the 75th different course the league has played in its 46-year history.
Josh Hilliker shot a personal best in league play with a 2-under par 70. Hilliker joins Ron Rys, Tony Nicosia and Kevin Kaszuba as the only golfers to shoot 70 or better in league history. Hilliker leads the league with 11 tour victories this season, and led both the front (34) and back (36) nines.
Robert Calph finished second with 75, followed by Ed Tofil (76) and Jeff Nelson (78). Phil Hopkins shot a personal best in league play with an 84. Mike Willoughby and Dennis Gawronski Sr. won the B and C Flights, respectively. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Kaszuba.

Joe Bifaro shot 87, joining Pete Gawron as the only golfers in league history to shoot their age. Lenny Leszkowicz moved past John Bongiovanni Jr. into 19th place on the All-Time Points List. Lou Polichetti also shot a personal low league score.
