Young, Grant shoot 72 to lead Senior Tour at South Hills CC
BUSTI — Dave Young and Shelly Grant shot matching 72s to lead the Asquith Senior Tour during its stop at South Hills Country Club on Monday.
Young’s 72 led the White A Flight, while Grant’s 72 paced the Gold A Flight.
Using Stableford scoring, Randy Herron led the White A Flight at plus-14, while Randy Walker and Randy Peterson were both plus-11.
In the White B Flight, Roger Overend shot an 84 and was plus-10. Jim Hale was plus-6 and Phil Benson was plus-3.
In the Gold A Flight, Dale Melquist was plus-12, Randy Carlson was plus-11 and Grant was plus-9.
Chet Shields shot a 76 to lead the Gold B Flight. David Gayton was plus-14 and Shields was plus-12, while Mike Brown was plus-11.
Paul Trusso’s 87 paced the Gold C Flight. Marty Burroughs was plus-10, Bill Davenport was plus-6 and Paul Trusso was plus-5.
Dan Barry’s 90 and plus-12 led the Gold D Flight. Bill Radack was also plus-12 and Clyde Mohl was plus-6.
Closest-to-the-pin honors went to Craig Underwood at No. 4, Gayton at No. 9, Paul Edson at No. 13 and Sal Dicembre at No. 15.
The tour will stop at Union City Country Club this coming Monday and Venango Valley Inn and Golf Course on July 29.
