Golden Cougars continue hot start against Eagles

MAYVILLE — Julianna Roth and Mary Lundmark each scored a pair of goals to lead Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove to a 6-1 nonleague girls soccer victory over Chautauqua Lake on Thursday.

Roth opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 17th minute before Lundmark made it 2-0 just 27 seconds later with an unassisted tally of her own.

Lundmark added her second of the game from Sydnee Snow less than a minute later. Kylie Kress made it 4-0 in the 33rd minute and Natalie Dossey made it 5-0 off a corner from Kress in the 38th minute.

Roth scored her second of the game and fifth of the season late in the game before Jada Cole broke up the shutout with Chautauqua Lake’s lone goal of the game.

Ellyson Baglia made two saves in net for Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (2-0-0), while Madison Deland made 11 saves for the Eagles (0-1-0).

BLACK KNIGHTS CRUISE

SILVER CREEK — Marissa Grisanti scored four goals as Silver Creek/Forestville jumped all over Pine Valley/Gowanda 7-1 in nonleague action.

Abby Cook and Carilene Sliwa set up most of the Black Knights’ goals as Cook finished with a goal and three assists, and Sliwa had three helpers. Eliza Mahaney and Rylee Weiskerger scored once apiece, and Alexandria Parks had one assist.

Kimberly Bauer made five saves, earning the win in net.
