Turn-back-the-clock golf set for Sunday at CCC
The City of Dunkirk Historical Society has openings for golfers wanting to turn back the clock just a bit this Sunday morning at the Cassadaga Country Club, located at 55 Frisbee Road.
Billed as An Ancient and Royal golf outing, the fundraiser will be comprised of nine holes of golf starting at 9 a.m. with everyone using a wooden-headed club to tee off on No. 1. All golfers will use a nearly 100-year-old hickory club on a par-3 hole and will use a vintage blade putter on the No. 9 green. All three specialty clubs will be provided. Golfers will use their own clubs on all other shots.
The cost of the event is $60 per person, and it will include coffee and doughnuts prior to golf and a lunch following the round. Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed golfer, best random team, closest to the pin, and longest drive. There will also be theme-basket raffles at the course.
To sign up to play, or to sponsor a hole for as little as $10, call the Cassadaga Country Club at 716-595-3003 and mention the Historical Society outing or call 716-366-3797 and leave a message. All proceeds will benefit The Dunkirk Historical Society Museum, located at 513 Washington Ave. in the city. The Historical Society is a not-for-profit organization.
