Waid claimed the 200-yard freestyle (2:24.83) and the 500-yard freestyle (6:30.94) for the Bears. Leah Waite doubled for the Hillbillies, winning the 50-yard freestyle (28.30) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:22.54).

“I knew they were going to get us,” Fredonia coach Allie Saye said. “Most of their team are veterans, but we held them to only a 40-point win. That’s our best against Frewsburg/Falconer yet, boys or girls, and we got two Class A performances.”

They were Olivia Burlingame in the 100-yard backstroke, and she missed the 200-yard individual medley by about 1.5 seconds; and Waite in the 100-yard breaststroke, and she just missed the 50-yard freestyle by .16 seconds.

Other highlights for the Hillbillies were Gabby Spaulding for covering the 500-yard freestyle (dropping more than 50 seconds), the 100-yard breaststroke (dropping 16 seconds) and swimming a leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay
