With the field tilted toward Silver Creek/Forestville’s end of the pitch, Southwestern finally broke through when Emma Malmstrom Jouannet’s shot squeaked by Kimberly Bauer. GASPORT — Despite struggles in the regular season last year, the Fredonia girls managed to go on a magical playoff run that resulted in the program’s third straight sectional title. The task of four in a row was a daunting one with the ‘Billies traveling to No. 3 Royalton-Hartland for a prequarterfinal matchup.

The 14-seeded ‘Billies limited the potent Rams offense to just a pair of goals, but they could not find the net and were dealt an early exit via 2-0 shutout.

Maria Trombley scored from Kaylie Churchill to get the Rams on the board first and then senior Allie Trombley provided an insurance goal to put the game away. Royalton-Hartland will play No. 11 Newfane (5-6-0) in the quarterfinals on Friday at 3:30 p.m.

Fredonia ends its season with a 6-11-0 record.
