Hilliker earns 40th Wednesday Travel League win

RUSSELL, Pa. — Josh Hilliker won his 40th career Wednesday Travel League event with the low round of 76 at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

Hilliker added to his single-season record for tour wins with his 17th victory of the season. Both Hilliker and Tim Walawender went over 2,000 career points.

Jeff Nelson finished second with 81 and Dave Wallace was third with 83. Hilliker led the front nine with an even-par 36. Hilliker, Nelson and Wallace all shot 40 to lead the back nine. Ken Kaus and Phil Hopkins won the B and C Flights, respectively. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Jaime Galarza.

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Nelson (Nos. 3 and 13), Pete Pinkoski (No. 7), Hilliker (Nos. 9 and 16), Wallace (No. 14) and Dave Franklin (No. 17); B Flight — Kaus (Nos. 6, 7), Tom Destro (No. 8), Lenny Leszkowicz (No. 9), Walawender (No. 10), Tony Destro (No. 12) and Dennis Gawronski Sr. (Nos. 16 and 17); C Flight — Hopkins (No. 9), Joe Bifaro (Nos. 14 and 15), John Waterman (No. 16) and Pat Weaver (No. 18).

AKRON — Josh Hilliker set a new Wednesday Travel League single-season record with 16 tour wins after shooting the low round of 78 at The Links at Ivy Ridge. The former record of 15 wins was held by Robert Calph and matched by Hilliker in 2023.

Calph finished second with 80 and Ed Tofil was third with 82. Hilliker led the front nine with 40 while Calph matched Hilliker’s 38 for the low back nine. In the B Flight, Tom Sacilowski won on a tiebreaker over Dave Criscione and Tom Destro. The C Flight winner was Dave Wallace. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Dan Franklin.
