Hilliker wins 19th Travel League event of season
LAKEWOOD — Josh Hilliker was once again atop the Wednesday Travel League’s leaderboard after shooting the low round of 74 at a chilly Maplehurst Country Club.
Hilliker’s 19th tour win of the season was also the 42nd of his career, moving him into sixth place all-time, passing both Tony Nicosia and the late Ron “Moonie” Rys.
Mike Dornan finished second with 83 and Ed Tofil was third with 84. Hilliker led both the front (38) and back (36) nines. The B Flight winner was Lenny Leszkowicz. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioner’s Award was Jack Hood.
Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — John Waterman (Nos. 3 and 4), Hilliker (Nos. 6, 8, 13 and 16), and Dornan (Nos. 12 and 15); B Flight — Tom Sacilowski (Nos. 2 and 13), Leszkowicz (Nos. 3, 4 and 15), Pete Pinkoski (Nos. 6, 9 and 18), and Gary Haase (Nos. 7, 12 and 17).
Hilliker was closest to the pin on Nos. 3, 13 and 16. Winners of the Steeplechase were: Hilliker in A Flight and Leszkowicz in B Flight.
