Gowanda/PV rolls past Wilson 31-20 for playoff win
GOWANDA — Carter Capozzi threw for 257 yards and four touchdowns as No. 4 Gowanda/Pine Valley beat No. 5 Wilson 31-20 in a Section VI Class D quarterfinal Friday at Hillis Field.
The Panthers led 31-0 after three quarters before the Lakemen scored the final 20 points.
In the second quarter, Capozzi threw touchdowns of 30 yards to Trelin Warrior, 35 yards to Winter Rivera and 14 yards to Warrior.
In the third quarter, Winter Mentley Peters ran for a 20-yard touchdown and Rivera caught a 33-yard touchdown from Capozzi.
Warrior finished with seven catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Rivera caught three passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Camryn Slade was in on 13 tackles, including a sack, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble; Mason Wilson was in on five tackles, including two sacks, and forced a fumble; and Brayden Smith was in on nine tackles, intercepted a pass and forced a fumble.
Gowanda/Pine Valley will travel to Panama to take on No. 1 Clymer/Sherman/Panama in a semifinal Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

HERD FALLS AT MEDINA
MEDINA — Christian Moss ran 27 times for 184 yards and three touchdowns as Medina topped Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove 28-12 in a Class C quarterfinal.
Preston Woodworth completed six passes for 59 yards and a touchdown for the Mustangs, Class C North’s No. 2 seed.
For the Herd, Class C South’s No. 3 seed, Jacob Roth had 22 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown, while Roger Markham added five carries for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, David Markham was in on 18 tackles, Taylor Jones was in on 13 tackles and Zach Markham was in on 10 tackles. Roger Markham also intercepted a pass.
Medina will visit Class C South No. 1 Salamanca for a 7 p.m. Friday semifinal.
