Ruiz goes undefeated for ‘Billies at St. Francis Duals
HAMBURG — The Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville wrestling team put itself to the test this past weekend making the trip to the VinLouie’s St. Francis Duals, going 2-6 as a team, but with some strong individual performances.
Issiah Ruiz shined brightest for the Hillbillies going 8-0 in the 131-pound bracket posting six pins, Rocco Muscarella went 7-1 at 101 pounds with his only loss to Cameron Crumpler of Niagara Falls, and Cam Ingram also went 7-1 at 145 pounds with four pins and just a loss to Aiden Gillings of Newfane.
Isaac Rodriguez Arroyo went 5-2 at 285 pounds with all of his victories coming via pinfall and Owen Kilburn picked up three more pins for the Hillbillies at 190 pounds.
“I was really pleased with the effort given,” Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville head coach Joe Santilli stated. “We have many new to the sport, we’re young and inexperienced. They battled hard and demonstrated great effort and attitude, I see a lot of positive things as we move forward.”
Fredonia/Silver Creek/Forestville’s first league match is this Wednesday when it entertains Southwestern.
