Clymer/Sherman edges Cougars in D2 softball
SINCLAIRVILLE — Elli Bodamer gave up four hits and struck out 10 batters to lead Clymer/Sherman softball past Cassadaga Valley 9-2 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 action on Thursday.
The Wolves (4-0, 2-0) were led by Alyssa Pratt and Kiera Kanal both hitting 2 for 3.
The Cougars (3-1, 2-1) were led by Mia Fanara going 2 for 3, while both Denza Fanara and Emiley Anderson had a single. Katie Russell gave up seven hits in the circle, walked 10 and struck out three.
CARDINALS ROLL CHAUTAUQUA LAKE
RANDOLPH — Grace Arnold-Hill hit both a double and a triple in Randolph’s 10-3 nonleague victory over Chautauqua Lake.
Aliza Hind added three hits including a double for the Cardinals, while both Ryanne Bushey and Sadie Steward had two singles each. Bushey also picked up the win in the circle giving up six hits, three walks and striking out six.
Chautauqua Lake received a pair of singles from Lucy Gates, while Alexis Szumigala took to the circle with a strikeout, two walks and gave up 14 hits.
TROJANS EDGE JAMESTOWN
WEST ELLICOTT — Siri DuBois hits 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI in Southwestern’s 7-6 Division 1 victory over Jamestown.
Eliana Barone also went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Trojans (2-6, 2-1), while Madi Burnett hit 2 for 3 with an RBI. Burnett also started the game and went five innings with five hits, eight walks and nine strikeouts, but it was Arianna Silakowski securing the win in the final two innings pitched giving up a hit and three strikeouts.
Jamestown (2-3, 0-2) was led by Kendall Hughes hitting 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs, while Kaylee Keppel hit 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs. Keppel also pitched all seven innings and gave up 13 hits, a walk and struck out four.
