Gowanda softball tops Brocton

GOWANDA — Addison Kota hit a solo home run and finished the final two innings in the circle for Gowanda with five strikeouts to secure a 17-8 Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 3 win over Brocton on Friday.

Gracie Eddy started the game in the circle and had eight strikeouts for Gowanda (4-2, 1-1), while Sophie Bobseine connected on four singles, and both Bella Maines and Corrina John had singles.

Brocton (0-5, 0-3) was led by Paige Miller going 3 for 4 with a double and triple, Joleena Doner had two singles and an RBI, Lauralie Battaglia had 2 RBIs, Zoe Spiller hit a double and 2 RBIs, Victoria Battaglia had an RBI, Haylee Carlton connected for a single and RBI and Maria Daugherty had a single. In the circle, Madison Sears made three strikeouts in the circle.

HORNETS TAKE DOWN WOLVERINES

WESTFIELD — Emily Lillie hit a home run and went 4 for 5 with 2 RBIs as Forestville softball took down Westfield in nonleague action on Thursday.

Carilene Sliwa hit a triple for Forestville (5-0, 2-0 CCAA 3), while both Jade Work and Alexandra Kerstetter hit doubles. Then Megan Gruber controlled things in the circle as she struck out five and gave up nine hits for the win.

Westfield (2-3, 1-1 CCAA 2) was led by Sydney Hotchkiss who collected her 100th career hit while going 2 for 4. Arielle Corbett hit 2 for 4 with a triple, Avery Smith was 2 for 2 with a double and both Charly Mathews and Mackenzie Schumaker recorded doubles.
