3 CCAA girls qualify for golf states

GOWANDA — Three members of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association have earned a trip to the New York State Public High School Athletic Association girls golf championships.

Playing in the Section VI tournament on Monday at Gowanda Country Club, Jocelyn Wintersteen of Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove and Nilla Ecklof of Jamestown shot an 87 and 93, respectively, to qualify for the state team, while Sydnee Hoffman of Fredonia fired a 96 to qualify as an alternate.

Other CCAA golfers who participated yesterday were Elise Kartesz of Southwestern (107), Cady Rodgers of Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (108), Britta Putney of Jamestown (119), Lauren Yagger of Falconer (127) and Brandi Meder of Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (130).

The medalist was Kylie Dean of Clarence, who shot a 74.

The NYSPHSAA Championship is June 7-9 at Wild Wood Country Club in Rush, which is located just south of Rochester.
