GOWANDA — The Falconer softball team waited a day later for its Section VI Class C quarterfinal, but wasted no time scoring early en route to a 4-2 win against Silver Creek on Friday at Gowanda High School.

Emily Rhinehart was strong in the circle for Falconer with 12 strikeouts and two walks, limiting the Black Knights to just two runs. Emily Zaranek and Hannah Melquist smacked doubles on offense and Katrina Schrantz scored twice.

Rylee Weiskerger struck out seven batters and walked nine for No. 4 Silver Creek. She also scored in the fourth and Maddi Hien added another in the fifth.

The fifth-seeded Golden Falcons will travel to No. 1 Barker for a semifinal matchup on Tuesday.
