Hilliker leads Travel League with 79 at Blueberry Hill

RUSSELL, Pa. — Josh Hilliker won in his season debut on the Wednesday Travel League, shooting the low round of 79 (37-42) at Blueberry Hill Golf Course. Traditionally one of the most difficult courses on the league schedule, Blueberry lived up to its reputation, as Ed Tofil was the only other golfer to break 90, finishing second with 86. Jeff Nelson and Tom Sacilowski tied for third with 92s.

Jack Hood was the B Flight winner. The winner of the Bruce “Java” Chrabasz Commissioners Award was Lenny Leszkowicz. Winning the Award for the 30th time, Leszkowicz is now tied for the third most all-time with the award’s namesake

Untied birdies were recorded by: A Flight — Gary Haase (No. 4), Tofil (Nos. 6,13 and 15), Hilliker (Nos. 7, 9, 11 and 12) and Nelson (No. 16); B Flight — Bob Kujawa (No. 2), Phil Hopkins (Nos. 3 and 6), Leszkowicz (No. 7), Bob Thompson (No. 15) and Joe Bifaro (No. 18).

Closest to the pin were: Nelson (Nos. 8 and 16) and Haase (No. 11). Winners of the Steeplechase were: Tofil in A Flight and Pete Pinkoski in B Flight.

Top point winners were: Hilliker and Tofil (24 apiece), Nelson (20) and Haase (12).
