Maloney, Abbey, Steffen win medalist honors

RANDOLPH — Behind a 1-over par 37 by Evan Maloney, Jamestown claimed its 22nd victory in 23 matches, downing Chautauqua Lake/Westfield 36-19 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action Friday.

The Red & Green, which is 16-1 in the division, also had a 40 apiece from Tyler Salvaggio and Hunter Johnson.

Leading the way for the Eagles (10-7, 8-5) was Carson Swanson with a 46.

GRANT ABBEY IS MEDALIST

OLEAN — Sparked by medalist Grant Abbey’s 1-over 36, Fredonia downed Olean 38.5-16.5.

The win raised the Hillbillies’ record to 16-1 overall and 11-1 in the division, while the Huskies dropped to 13-10 and 8-7.

Ryan Kelly added a 39 and Jordan Kelly shot a 40 for the winners.

In the other match, Olean defeated Dunkirk (0-21, 0-12) 40-15.

Cam Bartman shot a 44 to pace the Huskies. Landon Thomas had a 55 for the Marauders.

FALCONER — Evan Steffen shot a 2-over 38 for medalist honors, but Falconer edged Maple Grove 28-27 at Breezewood Links.

Channing Brainard led the Golden Falcons (7-13, 6-7) with a 41. Baylor Hirliman also had a 41 for the Red Dragons (5-11, 3-10).
