LAKEWOOD — Olean left the Lakewood Family YMCA on Wednesday feeling pretty good about itself.

Not only did the Huskies’ Janis Osswald win the singles’ title, but the duo of Alexander Ash-West and Cavan Boutillette also captured the doubles crown on the final day of the three-day Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Tennis Championships.

Osswald, who is now the CCAA top seed entering next week’s sectionals, defeated Josh Erickson of Falconer 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinal and then downed Fredonia’s Jackson Spangler 6-1, 6-1 for the singles crown.

Spangler is now the No. 2 seed — he defeated Jackson Sherry in the semifinals 6-0, 6-0; Erickson, who downed Sherry 6-4, 6-2 in the consolation, is the No. 3 seed; and Sherry is No. 4.

In doubles, Ash-West and Boutillette claimed the top seed after defeating teammates Brady Riehle and Brayden Cook 6-1, 6-3 in the semifinals and then downing Brenden Bailey and Evan Snyder, also of Olean, 6-2, 6-4 in the final. Bailey and Snyder advanced to the championship by virtue of a 6-0, 6-1 win over Chase Haaksma and Nolan Lefler of Southwestern. In the consolation match, Riehle and Cook defeated Haaksma and Lefler 6-3, 6-4. The remaining seeds from CCAA are Bailey and Snyder, No. 2; Riehle and Cook, No. 3; and Haaksma and Lefler, No. 4 heading into the sectionals next week.

Starting at $3.50/week.
