Sophia Utegg passed for 11 of 17 with just 79 yards, but that resulted in five touchdowns as Fredonia dominated its rival Dunkirk 59-0 in Section VI Division 4 flag football action on Saturday at the Orange Bowl in Fredonia.

Madelyn Polhamus was the top target for Utegg as she hauled in four catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns, while she also passed one touchdown. Fredonia also had four catches from Nora Polhamus for 25 yards and two touchdowns and Elizabeth Morris caught three passes for 35 yards and two touchdowns. Then on the ground, Natalia DiPalma rushed for 104 yards on 16 attempts, but it was Mia Sells to reach paydirt as she amassed 60 yards on six carries with the score.

The offense certainly did its job, but the defense stole the show again as Fredonia recorded its second straight shutout and fifth of the season. Nora Polhamus finished her day with four total touchdowns as she secured three interceptions and returned two of them to the house.

Juliana Snyder also had an interception, Morris had eight flag pulls with five for loss and four sacks and Brianna Whitfield added four flag pulls and two passes defended.

The Marauders (1-3, 1-2) will look to bounce back at Lackawanna (2-5, 1-2) today, while Fredonia (9-1, 4-0) hosts Iroquois (6-2, 3-0) on Tuesday for an opportunity to win the division title.

Starting at $3.50/week.
