BATAVIA — The Gowanda Panthers are heading to Binghamton.

Blake Herman tossed a four-hitter with nine strikeouts, and also hit a two-run home run, as the Section VI champions beat Section V’s Kendall 8-1 in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Class C Far West Regional on Saturday at Dwyer Stadium.

Gowanda took a 6-0 lead in the top of the third inning and Herman did not allow an Eagles run until the seventh.

By then, his teammates were already planning their celebrations and parents were booking hotel rooms for next weekend.

The Panthers will play at 7 p.m. Friday at Union-Endicott High School with the winner advancing to Saturday’s title game.
