Hetrick, Hoose hosting wrestling clinic Saturday
A pair of area natives and Division I athletes will be hosting a wrestling clinic Saturday at Southwestern Central School.
Ryan Hetrick, who wrestled at Army West Point, and Giuseppe Hoose, who wrestled at Oklahoma, Buffalo, Hofstra and Drexel, will conduct the two-session clinic, which will benefit the RTH Foundation.
The first session will run from 10-11:30 a.m., led by Hetrick, who was the captain of the Army wrestling team, and the second session will run from 1-2:30 p.m., led by Hoose. Among the techniques that will be taught will be high-level takedowns, top and bottom work, scrambling and match preparation.
In addition, every athlete will leave with a personalized lifting program designed for peak performance in the fall.
All proceeds will go to scholarships through the RTH Foundation, which is committed to empowering the next generation of student-athletes. Now in its fourth year, the foundation continues to invest in students from Southwestern and Maple Grove high schools. Through these scholarships, mentorship and community-driven programs, the foundation supports high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in academics, athletics and leadership, especially those pursuing STEM-related studies in college.
Hetrick and Hoose are clinicians who bring plenty of experience and success on the mat and in academics.
Hetrick is a former captain of the Cadets and is a four-year Division I competitor. A three-time place winner and systems engineering major, he brings experience, leadership and a deep commitment to developing the next generation of scholar-athletes.
Hoose, meanwhile, is a 2023 NCAA qualifier and STEM major. A scholar All-American and a Mid-American Conference Medal of Excellence winner, he has recorded more than 50 collegiate wins.
