Since taking over the Chautauqua Lake softball program from Sue Teets, second-year head coach Katie Yudin has only had success with the Eagles. In her first season she captured a league title and reached the sectional final and then this past season her Eagles retained the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 2 title before winning the Section VI Class championship.
For the second year in a row Yudin has been named the league’s Coach of the Year and playing a big part in that was her lone senior, pitcher Cayzlee Johnson.
Johnson went 15-3 in the circle for the Eagles with a 0.51 earned run average, throwing one perfect game and six shutouts. She struck out 156 batters in 109 innings of work and surrendered just eight earned runs while holding opponents to a .160 batting average.
Not only was Johnson one of the most dominant pitchers in the area, but at the plate she hit a team-high .474 with 21 RBIs, five doubles, three triples, a home run and 20 runs scored. For the second straight season Johnson was then named the Player of the Year in the Division 2.
Johnson was not the only pitcher on top of their game in Division 2 as Clymer/Sherman junior Elli Bodamer boasted a 10-4 record with a 0.78 ERA, striking out 135 batters in 90 innings of work while holding opponents to a .199 batting average and was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year.

Chautauqua Lake added Karagan Fairbank and Jillian Miller to Second Team, while both Cameron Mackey and Kinslee Motter were honorable mentions.
Bodamer was joined on the First Team by teammates Tayler Pinzok and Janelle Burchanowski. Pinzok hit .341 with eight RBIs, two doubles, a triple and 15 runs scored, while Burchanowski batted .558 with 21 RBIs, four doubles, a triple, two home runs and 18 runs scored.
The Wolves added Keira Kinal and Addie Wiggers to the Second Team, while both Caylee Pinzok and Kelsey Wagner were honorable mentions.
Westfield finished second in the league and had three girls named to the First Team. Representing the Wolverines are senior Eva Gnadzinski who went 7-3 in the circle with a 2.09 ERA and 50 strikeouts over 70 1/3 innings then hit .471 with 17 RBIs, eight doubles, two home runs and 16 runs scored, senior Sydney Hotchkiss batted .463 with 16 RBIs, eight doubles, a triple and 20 runs scored and junior Mackenzie Schumaker hit .346 with 13 RBIs, eight doubles, two triples, a home run and 18 runs scored.

Cassadaga Valley senior Emiley Anderson was named to the First Team and in seven recorded games of statistics she batted .500 with 10 RBIs, three triples and seven runs scored. The Cougars added Hailey Myers and Hailey Anderson to the Second Team, while Denza Fanara, Anna Burlingame and Mia Fanara were honorable mentions.
On top of Frewsburg earning the Team Sportsmanship Award, sophomore Teagan Nazario was named to the First Team after hitting .382 with four doubles, a home run, 11 RBIs and seven runs scored.
