Dunkirk’s Perry to compete in state horseshoe tourney

CAMDEN — Pine Grove Horseshoe Club will once again host the New York State Horseshoe Pitchers Association State Championship Tournament on Aug. 30-31. More than 75 players from across the state will compete.

The top entries for the Men’s Championship class are defending state champion and senior men’s World Champion Ken Fraser of North Bay; George Harageones of Delancey; and Paul Black of Campbell.

The top entries for the Elder’s Championship class are defending Elder’s state champion Glenn Davis of Ontario; Lindwood Standish of Burdett; and Norm McCanney of Camden.

The top entries for the Women’s Championship class are defending state champion Karen Graham of North Bay; Sue Laughlin of Montour Falls; and NYSHPA president Ellen Perry of Dunkirk.

The defending Junior Boys state champion Tucker Carey of Delhi and Mark Florance III of Greene will compete in the Junior Boys Championship class.

Seven other classes will also compete during the two-day tournament. Rain date is Sept. 1.
