Silver Creek/Forestville girls soccer starts with big win
SOUTH DAYTON — The Silver Creek/Forestville girls soccer team started the season with a bang as plenty of girls got on the scoreboard in an 11-0 nonleague victory over Pine Valley/Gowanda on Friday.
Abby Cook paced the Black Knights with two goals and an assist, Meadow Azzarella provided a goal and two assists, Malayah Eldridge scored twice, and both Carilene Sliwa and Emily Bain had a goal and an assist, while Eliza Mahaney, Kyla Zeigler, Chymerah Genovese and Hailie Rybij scored once each. Both Alexandria Parks and Allison Hughes collected one assist.
Rybij was called upon for the only save, splitting time with Mahaney.
PORTVILLE BEATS FREDONIA
PORTVILLE — Kiyah Mohr’s first-half goal from Grace Gariepy stood up as the winner as Portville beat Fredonia 1-0 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 play.
Bella Morales made four saves in the clean sheet for the Panthers (1-0-0, 1-0-0).
Naomi Muck made nine saves for the Hillbillies (0-1-0, 0-1-0) in Kyle Marvin’s debut as their head coach.
