Greg Orcutt
For the first time since 2018, the New York State Sportswriters Association released all-state baseball teams Tuesday.
Nine local players were recognized for their outstanding seasons on the diamond.
In Class A, Dunkirk senior pitcher Greg Orcutt was named to the fourth team and Marauders junior infielder Josh Lemanski was named to the fifth team.
Orcutt was named the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 Roger K. Moore Pitcher of the Year after going 9-0 with a 1.48 earned run average, striking out 87 batters in 47 1/3 innings. He also hit .270 with five doubles while driving in 15 runs and scoring 22. Lemanski was named a CCAA Division 1 Al Stuhlmiller co-Player of the Year after going 5-0 with a 1.52 ERA, striking out 38 batters in 32 1/3 innings. He also hit .373 with four doubles, two triples and a home run while driving in 19 runs and scoring 25.
In Class B, Fredonia senior pitcher Ashton Putney was named to the third team.

Josh Lemanski
The right-hander was named a CCAA Division 1 Al Stuhlmiller co-Player of the Year after pitching six complete games, including three shutouts, a no-hitter and three one-hitters. He struck out 98 batters in 60 1/3 innings while also hitting .438 with four doubles, four triples and a home run. Putney drove in 22 runs and scored 25.
In Class C, Frewsburg senior infielder Chase Haglund and Gowanda senior pitcher/infielder/catcher Blake Herman were named to the first team, Clymer/Sherman/Panama senior infielder/pitcher Bryce Hinsdale was named to the second team, and Wolfpack senior infielder/pitcher Tate Catanese was named to the fifth team.
Haglund was named a CCAA Division 2 first-team all-star after hitting .422 with six doubles and four triples while driving in 15 runs and scoring 44. He also stole 32 bases. Herman was named the Post-Journal/OBSERVER Player of the Year and the CCAA Division 3 POY after hitting .544 with eight doubles, seven triples and five home runs while driving in 32 runs and scoring 49. On the mound, the right-hander went 11-2 with a 0.80 ERA, striking out 103 batters in 61 innings. Hinsdale hit .404 with five doubles, a triple and a home run while driving in 19 runs and scoring 20. On the mound, he went 2-3 with a 2.02 ERA, striking out 38 batters in 34 2/3 innings. Catanese went 4-1 with a 3.37 ERA, striking out 36 batters in 27 innings. He also hit .395 with three doubles, driving in 17 runs and scoring 19.
In Class D, Brocton junior outfielder Anthony Gatto was named to the first team and Bulldogs senior pitcher/infielder Michael Garcia was named to the third team.
Gatto hit .344 with four doubles and a triple while driving in 13 runs and scoring 23. He also went 3-2 with a 2.57 ERA, striking out 55 in 43 2/3 innings. Garcia went 4-3 and struck out 30 batters in 30 1/3 innings. He also hit .300 with a triple and 11 RBIs while scoring 20 runs.

In Class AAA, Niagara Falls junior infielder Anthony Littere was named to the second team and Niagara Falls junior outfielder Nick Ligammari was named to the third team.
In Class AA, Williamsville North senior infielder Ben Hansen was named to the second team, Niagara Wheatfield senior outfielder Matthew Ganschow was named to the third team,
Sweet Home senior infielder Rocco Panepinto and Niagara Wheatfield senior pitcher Andrew Kelly were named to the fourth team, Williamsville East junior pitcher Jaxson Lichner was named to the fifth team, and Clarence senior infielder Owen Newth and Frontier senior outfielder Chase Porter were named to the sixth team.
In Class A, Amherst senior shortstop Grady Brown was named to the first team, Iroquois senior infielder Slade McTigue and senior outfielder Gavin Dundon were named to the second team, Olean junior outfielder Austin Miles was named to the fourth team, Amherst senior outfielder RJ Rybicki and Maryvale junior utilityman Jacob Kuciel were named to the fifth team, and Williamsville South sophomore outfielder Philip Gangi and Iroquois junior catcher Dominic Pasek were named to the sixth team.
In Class B, Medina senior pitcher Brody Fry was named to the first team, Medina sophomore infielder Aidan Papaj was named to the second team, and Eden senior infielder Tyler Schunk, Medina sophomore pitcher Preston Woodworth and JFK junior designated hitter Andrew Pajak were named to the fourth team.

In Class D, Franklinville senior first baseman Gannon Callahan was named to the first team and Franklinville senior third baseman Isaac Towne was named to the third team.
Players of the Year were Section XI Patchogue-Medford senior outfielder/pitcher Jayden Stroman in Class AAA, Section XI Hauppauge senior catcher Michael Oliveto in Class AA, Section V Pittsford-Mendon senior pitcher/outfielder Cam Barbulean and Section XI Miller Place senior pitcher Nick Frusco in Class A, Section II Mechanicville senior shortstop/third baseman Scott Lynch in Class B, Section II Saratoga Catholic senior catcher Hunter Fales in Class C, and Section III Oriskany junior shortstop/pitcher Eddie Wright and senior catcher Nicholas Hays in Class D.
