Falconer sweeps Dunkirk in D1 volleyball opener
DUNKIRK — Hannah Melquist had six kills, nine assists, six aces and four digs to lead Falconer past Dunkirk 25-14, 25-19, 25-13 in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls volleyball Wednesday.
Reagan Trask added eight assists and five aces for the Golden Falcons (1-1, 1-0).
Ryleigh Donato had five kills and Jazmin Bultron had nine digs for the Marauders (0-2, 0-1).
TROJANS SWEEP JAMESTOWN
JAMESTOWN — Madi Burnett had nine kills, five aces and a block as Southwestern swept Jamestown 25-23, 25-13, 26-24 in Division 1 action at McElrath Gymnasium.
Reagan Stutzman had five kills and two blocks while Elise Kartesz had nine assists and three aces for the Trojans (1-0, 1-0).
Remy Anderson had three aces and six kills; Maylin Cuifolo had nine assists; and Chloe Degnan had six aces for the Red & Green (0-2, 0-1).
Southwestern won the jayvee match 25-22, 25-19, 16-25.
EVERYONE CHIPS IN FOR CLYMER
ELLERY — Keira Kinal had seven aces, four kills, four digs and a block as Clymer beat Maple Grove 25-21, 25-18, 17-25, 25-20 in nonleague action.
Lily Johnson had nine digs, four kills, three aces and two blocks; Harleigh Faulkner had six kills, two aces, a block and a dig; Maiya Dunnewold had eight assists and two digs; and Addie Wigger had six assists and a dig for the Pirates (1-1).
Meg Ryan had eight kills and three digs; Bailey Godfrey had six aces, four kills, four digs and two assists; Ariyah Brown had eight digs; Hailey Ullman had six digs; Zoey Foley had six digs and three aces; and Annie Steffen had four aces and three digs for the Red Dragons (0-1).
Maple Grove won the jayvee match.
GOWANDA EARNS SWEEP IN WEST VALLEY
WEST VALLEY — CC John had 10 kills and a block as Gowanda swept West Valley/Franklinville 25-18, 25-12, 25-17 in Division 2 action.
Addison Kota had seven kills, four aces and three digs; Nina Moses had eight aces, three kills and two digs; and Bella Maines had three aces, 19 assists, two kills and three digs for Gowanda (1-0, 1-0).
ADAMS HELPS BROCTON PREVAIL
SOUTH DAYTON — Sha’nah Adams had 31 assists, three kills and two aces as Brocton beat Pine Valley 25-17, 15-25, 25-17, 25-19 in nonleague action.
Zoey Spiller had 16 kills, three aces and two assists while Evie Morrison added 14 kills, four aces and four assists for the Bulldogs (1-0).
Ava West had eight digs, four kills and an assist; Madi Robertson had 10 assists and two digs; and Breanna Snyder had 17 digs for the Panthers (0-2).
TIMBERWOLVES WIN OPENER
SALAMANCA — Cattaraugus-Little Valley swept Salamanca 25-12, 25-12, 25-22 in Division 2 play.
The Timberwolves improved to 1-0 overall and in the league.
Hadleigh Krug had 26 digs and Jorja Miller had three blocks for the Warriors (0-1, 0-1).
