Fredonia boys edge Olean 3-2

FREDONIA — Sam Pietro scored two goals and picked up an assist as Fredonia held off Olean 3-2 for a Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division I boys soccer victory on Thursday.

Ryan Koopman set up the first Fredonia (6-1-2, 1-1-2) goal in the fifth minute and then scored from Pietro in the 35th. Neshwan Arif set up the final Fredonia goal in the 50th minute.

Olean falls to 1-5-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the league.

CARDINALS RALLY

ELLICOTTVILLE — Cody Slade scored in the 78th minute to send Randolph past Ellicottville/Franklinville 2-1 in Division II action.

Cooper Freeman set up a pair of Randolph goals in the final 12 minutes, first to Isaac Pihlblad and then Slade. Randy Nottingham made three saves for the Cardinals (8-1-1, 3-0-1).

The Eagles (4-2-3, 2-1-1) were led by an unassisted goal from Tosh Klein and Jackson Kruszynski made six saves.

GOLDEN COUGARS DOMINATE

SOUTH DAYTON — Cam Katilus and Kale Livengood both scored hat tricks as Cassadaga Valley/Falconer rolled Pine Valley/Gowanda 8-0 in Division II.

Nathan Cieplinski provided a goal and two assists for the Golden Cougars (2-7-1, 1-2-1), Hunter Hattaway picked up a pair of assists, Connor Main scored once and Nathyn Gilbert, Jakob Huling and Mason Debo each provided one assist.

Pine Valley/Gowanda falls to 0-9-0 overall and 0-4-0 in the division.

BLACK KNIGHTS DOWN MG

SILVER CREEK — Nathan Mays scored twice and Silver Creek/Forestville was able to get past Maple Grove 2-0 in Division III.

Silver Creek/Forestville (4-5-0, 1-3-0) posted a clean sheet as Aaron Cook made six saves and Declan Irish and Christian Hatfield each picked up an assist.

Maple Grove falls to 4-3-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the league.

SWANSON POWERS WOLVERINES

FREWSBURG — Braylon Swanson scored a hat trick to help Westfield/Brocton overcome a 2-0 deficit for a 4-2 nonleague victory on Thursday.

Swanson’s first two tallies were assisted by Anthony Gatto, while Caleb Freifeld picked up the third. Westfield/Brocton (7-2-0, 3-0-0 DIII) added a fourth goal from Caleb Stoughton assisted by George Chapman in the 63rd minute.

Frewsburg (0-7-0) started hot with a pair of goals in the first seven minutes. Jayden Burch first scored unassisted, then Gavin Kent provided another with an assist by Isaac Hultberg.
