Fredonia runners get taste of state course

QUEENSBURY — Teams from across New York took part in the Pre-States Invitational at Queensbury High School on Saturday, a chance to race against some of the top teams and individuals in the state on the course where the state meet will be held later this fall.
Maple Grove’s boys took fourth in the Division 1 race. Ethan Verbosky was the Red Dragons’ top finisher with a third-place showing in 15:54, followed by Ty Kraft (35th, 17:33), Owen Erlandson (40th, 17:40), Jack Sherry (62nd, 18:03), Joshua Ashbaugh (71st, 18:19), Liam Price (83rd, 18:45), Finn Erlandson (95th, 19:05) and Jacob Lewis (99th, 19:15).
Fredonia’s boys took sixth in the Division 1 race. Trenton Krenzer led the way with a 42nd-place finish in 17:44. Nathan Keefe was 56th in 17:58, followed by Jimmy Fagan (59th, 18:00), Solomon McKnatt (66th, 18:10), Alex Cramer (79th, 18:38), Jack Fagan (94th, 19:05) and Garrett Lesch (163rd, 21:16). Keefe, McKnatt, Cramer and Jack Fagan turned in personal-best times.
Fredonia’s girls placed 13th in Division 1.
Izzie Czekanski was 18th in 20:56, followed by Meredith Lendt (23rd, 21:10), Nora Robinson (55th, 22:56), Rosemary Gugino (124th, 25:29) and Khloey Miller (143rd, 26:43). Robinson and Miller both turned in personal-best times.

Jamestown’s boys took 18th in the Division 3 race, led by 37th-place Clevon Wofford, who finished in 16:38. Finn Caswell was 78th in 17:22, followed by Thomas Kathman (82nd, 17:25), Wyatt Olmstead (91st, 17:30), Caleb Johnson (150th, 18:46), Dwight King (208th, 20:38), Joseph Jacques (217th, 21:14) and Jason Leenders (224th, 21:35).
Jamestown’s girls took 19th in their Division 3 race. London Hamilton was 72nd in 20:53, followed by Julia Stormont (110th, 22:01), Kater Hockenberry (132nd, 23:16), Gabriella Knight (136th, 23:25), Amina Faridi (168th, 26:01), Lucy Hockenberry (178th, 29:00) and Tori Tehan (179th, 29:41).
WNY OFFICIALS INVITE
GRAND ISLAND — Southwestern’s girls took second out of four teams and the Trojans boys took fourth out of seven teams in the Small School Division of the Western New York Officials Invitational on Saturday at Veterans Park.
Lillian Weikel was the top Southwestern girls finisher with a fourth-place showing in 21:46. Tryniti Card was eighth in 22:26, followed by Mackenzi Swafford (9th, 22:29), Elorna Barnett (17th, 23:50), Larissa Raak (23rd, 25:10), Lilly Scarsone (27th, 25:55) and Leala Carlson (30th, 28:30).
Ethan Lohnes was the top Southwestern boys finisher with an 11th-place showing in 19:36. Kellan Brown was 16th in 20:08, followed by Kaleb James (20:18), Dorian Weaver (29th, 21:37), Thomas Chase (31st, 22:10), James Nowling (49th, 24:06), Ginobili Velez-Rivera (51st, 24:36) and Evan Strong (24:46.91).
