Golden Cougars win girls soccer opener
FALCONER — Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove’s defense held Olean without a shot on goal as goalkeeper Ellyson Baglia claimed a clean sheet in a 2-0 shutout in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 girls soccer on Monday at Bill Race Field.
Giada Schauman opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the seventh minute.
After halftime, Gracie Chimera scored from Julianna Roth in the 52nd minute for the final margin.
Alaina Hirliman made 16 saves for the Huskies (0-4-0, 0-2-0).
Falconer/Cassadaga Valley/Maple Grove (1-0-0, 1-0-0) will host Allegany-Limestone at Bill Race Field on Wednesday night at 7 in a rematch of last year’s Section VI Class B championship game, which the Golden Cougars won 2-1.
TROJANS EDGE GATORS IN OVERTIME
ALLEGANY — Marlana Cresanti scored from Avery Johnson in the fifth minute of overtime as Southwestern beat Allegany-Limestone 4-3 in Division 1.
The Gators (1-3-0, 1-1-0) had a two-goal lead in the first half and a one-goal lead late, but each time the Trojans (3-1-0, 2-0-0) rallied.
Madison Honeck gave Allegany-Limestone its first lead in the 22nd minute from Faith Zwalsky and Kai Wojewoda-Ko made it 2-0 from Madison Honeck.
Cresanti made it 2-1 in the 32nd minute and Kenzie Rogers tied the game from Johnson in the 68th minute.
Allegany-Limestone then took a 3-2 lead when Madison Honeck scored from Kennedy Honeck in the 72nd minute.
But Cresanti tied the game at 3-3 from Johnson in the 77th minute and then completed her hat trick with the overtime winner.
Braya Beaver made four saves for Southwestern and Kenna MacArthur made 11 saves for Allegany-Limestone.
WOLFE SISTERS POWER WOLVERINES
WESTFIELD — Olivia Wolfe had two goals and an assist while Sophia Wolfe added a goal and two assists to lead Westfield/Brocton to a 6-0 shutout of Pine Valley/Gowanda in nonleague action.
Addison Emory scored from Kylie Post in the sixth minute and Avery Swank scored from Post in the 12th minute as the Wolverines (2-0-0) took a 2-0 lead.
Sophia Wolfe then scored from Olivia Wolfe in the 29th minute before Olivia Wolfe scored the last two goals of the first half from Sophia Wolfe as Westfield/Brocton led 5-0 at halftime.
After the break, Colie Bundy scored from Raegan Luce.
Abrianna Newell and Bundy shared the clean sheet in net.
The Panthers fell to 0-3-0 overall.

FREDONIA — Three second-half goals helped Fredonia pull away from Jamestown for a 4-0 Division 1 shutout.
Nora Polhamus scored from Cecelia Tonelli in the 37th minute for the Hillbillies (2-1-0, 1-1-0).
After halftime, Tonelli scored from Aria Russo in the 49th minute, Russo scored from Tonelli in the 71st minute and Gracia Domenico scored from Polhamus in the 75th minute.
Naomi Muck made six saves en route to the clean sheet.
The Red & Green fell to 0-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.
